When British retirees are disillusioned with what the UK has to offer them, they decide to outsource their retirement to exotic, and less expensive, India. Lured by advertisements for the newly restored Marigold Hotel and imagining a life of leisure in lush surroundings, they arrive and find that the Marigold is not quite ready for them. With few options, they help the young owner to make the hotel the very best it can be and, in the process, find the unexpected. This is a heartwarming movie with bonds forming across age and culture and although their new home is not quite what the retiree had imagined, they may have found something even better.
